Zero Calorie Foods can Help You Lose Weight

To follow a healthy diet 1200 calories are required for women of average size and 1500 calories for men. For the body to function well, nutrients, vitamins and minerals are required and not eating enough will leave the body lacking energy which can cause a higher risk of illnesses. Before taking part in a diet visit your general practitioner as they are aware of the medical history and can therefore give the correct advice regarding any diets.

Changing your eating habits and dieting is sometimes easier said than done. Eating healthy does not mean suffering hunger pangs or starving and being seduced by the many tricks which companies perform. Moderation is the answer when trying to lose weight.

Diet soda and water are the two genuine zero calorie foods and water is the genuine organic product. There are people who believe the advertising from companies who claim they have made food which they class as zero calorie foods therefore after eating they have not taken in any calories.

Water has excellent benefits and it is recommended to drink water, preferably eight glasses which holds 12 ounces, as part of a healthy diet. When dieting, water is also a good aid as it helps to make you feel fuller. To vary the diet with water freeze into ice and then shave or crush it to add a different texture.

Zero calorie foods such as diet soda normally use artificial sweeteners which some experts say plays a part in weight gain and obesity. There are many brands and makes of diet soda which can be purchased. Presently there is discussion around the benefits of diet soda in your diet because of the artificial sweeteners used.

There is a theory which suggests that there are particular fruits and vegetables which can be eaten and they have no calorific value. This assumption is made because when eating these particular fruits and vegetables the body uses more calories to digest than the amount of calories in these specific foods. This would mean after digesting they are zero calorie foods. No scientific evidence exists to back this theory but perhaps it is possible that the phenomenon can exist, therefore you can eat these zero calorie foods without worrying about calories. Eating these healthy foods provides nutrition and energy for the body but they do have some calories. Should you eat the foods with dips, butter or sugar obviously the zero calorie effect is not present. Negative calorie fruits are; apple, cranberries, mango, lemon, oranges, papaya, pineapples, raspberries, strawberries, grapefruit and tangerines. Negative calorie vegetables are; asparagus, broccoli, beetroot, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, peppers, cucumbers, dandelion, endive, cress, garlic, onions, green beans, spinach, lettuce, radishes, turnip and zucchini.
