To be eaten in moderation

Oils such as olive, avocado, flaxseed and canola oils should be used in moderation with 4 tablespoons being the recommended daily allowance. Beverages such as coffee and tea should also be consumed in moderation. One glass of beer or spirits and two glasses of wine is allowed. To satisfy a sweet tooth, up to two ounces of dried fruit a day is allowed.

Foods to be avoided

There are many different restricted foods on the paleo diet food list such as dairy foods. This includes butter, cheese, cream, yoghurt, ice cream, milk and dairy spreads. Another of the forbidden food groups is cereal grains. This means anything made from barley, corn, oats, rice, rye and wheat. That means no bread, pasta, cookies, pizza, cake, doughnuts, pancakes or noodles. Another food group to be avoided is legumes. This means all beans, peas, lentils, peanut butter, peanuts, soybeans and sugar snap peas. There are even some kinds of vegetables that should be avoided according to the paleo diet food list and these are mostly starchy vegetables. For example; potato, sweet potato, yams, cassava root and manioc.

Self-containing foods include items such as bacon, cheese, ham, frankfurters, olives, pickled foods, processed meats, salami, sausages and most canned meats and fish. Fatty meats should also be avoided including beef ribs, chicken legs, chicken skin, lamb chops, leg of lamb, pork ribs and pork sausage. All sugary drinks and canned or bottles drink should be completely avoided including freshly squeezed fruit juice. Finally the last thing on the paleo diet food list to be avoided is candy, honey and sugars.
