Top 5 foods that burn fat

Believe it or not it is possible to lose weight whilst continuing to eat. The key is to eat foods that are what’s known as negative calorie. This term means that eating these particular foods require more energy to digest than the number of calories they contain. Therefore in order to digest them, your body has to use energy taken from stored body fat making you lose weight. If your diet is based around these no calorie foods, in theory you can eat as much as you like without gaining weight. In reality despite the calories you will still begin to feel full once your stomach begins to run out of space. It is due to this fact that it is true that drinking a glass of water before each meal promotes weight loss as it takes up some of the space in your stomach. You may notice that most of the foods on this list of foods that burn fat contain large quantities of water, which explains why their calorie count is so low.

Celery

Celery is the first on the list of foods that burn fat as it is made up largely of water and one cup of celery weighing around 120 grams will contain only 19 calories. In order for the body to prepare, eat, digest and eliminate this amount of celery will use more calories than it contains. That is what allows the vegetable to be defined as a negative calorie food. Whole celery is more likely to make you feel full but celery juice is an alternative choice and it contains the same health benefits.

Kelp Noodles

You may not have been expecting to see noodles on the list of foods that burn fat but kelp noodles are not made up of the usual starch based ingredients. Kelp noodles are in fact made from sea kelp and are able to make you feel full in the way that traditional noodles do, except they contain only 6 calories per serving. They contain a large amount of water but are surprisingly versatile and can be added to soups or as a replacement in noodle dishes. So go ahead and eat as much as you like without worrying about any weight gain.

Pickles

Pickles are another negative calorie food and a poplar choice on the foods that burn fat list. Cucumbers, which are already a negative calorie food, are what pickles are made from, with vinegar, water and spices added to them. Cucumbers alone contain 16 calories per cup and depending on the amount of sugar added pickles might contain around 17 calories per cup. Therefore once again you can feel free to eat as many pickles as you want without gaining weight.

Lettuce, onions and salad greens

Lettuce is basically made up completely of water, which is why one cup of iceberg contains only 8 calories. It’s a similar story with onions and most salad greens. Just remember that they only count as foods that burn fat when served alone. Once they have been covered in salad dressing it is a totally different story.

Grapefruit

Whilst it isn’t a negative calorie food, grapefruit does qualify to be on the list of foods that burn fat. This is because it contains an antioxidant called naringenin, which sends signals to the liver to break down fat. Additionally it only contains 74 calories per cup so is in general a great weight loss food.
