An Overview of Reiki Therapy

Reiki therapy is a spiritual way to heal the body and soul. It can be learned and used by everyone in order to help the whole person, inside and out.

Imagine feeling a wonderful radiance flowing around and through your body as your fears, angers, and stress wash away in a river of fresh energy. Reiki therapy is a natural Japanese technique treats a person’s body, mind, emotional health, and spirit. “Reiki” is actually two words put together. Rei translates Higher Power while Ki means life force energy. This universal energy can make a significant difference when a person is ill or feeling sick. If your body is low on the energy, you are at a higher chance for developing an illness or suffering from stress and anxiety. On the other hand, if your energy is high, you will be healthier and happier. It can often be used alongside modern medical treatments to enhance the healing process.

Practicing Reiki Therapy

One of the most attractive aspects of Reiki therapy is that it has been shown to assist in almost every type of disease condition or illness. Any person can be taught the art of Reiki healing with no regard to age, background, or intellectual ability. Even though the method is based on a spiritual principle, it requires no specific religious belief system to use. The energy can be manipulated no matter what religious affiliation you may have. In fact, this technique has a tendency to make people feel closer to their religion. In order for a person to practice, they must attend a class where an attunement process will take place. This process allows the instructor to transfer the ability to each student. The pupil will then have access to a never-ending supply of the energy. People should work on enhancing their life and the lives of others so that the world will be more harmonious.

Living with Reiki

While there is no set religious belief necessary to benefit from Reiki therapy, a set of ideals has been created to help people live worthy and gracious lives. The main goal of the Ideals is to make people aware of the fact that they should actively partake in the healing process by consciously working to improve themselves. Some thoughts that people should keep in mind are:

  • Constantly strive to invite happiness into your life

  • Do not let yourself be filled with anger

  • Always be kind to others

  • Focus on your work

  • Try to keep from worrying about things especially those which you cannot control

  • Let the fact that you are alive fill you with gratitude

Remember that all the medicine and therapy in the world cannot make you happy and healthy unless you actively participate in the process. The individual needs to make a real commitment to focus on oneself in order to get the full benefits of what Reiki therapy has to offer.
